“Coat It, You’re Covered!™” Education Campaign Launched
To Help California Builders Meet New Title 24 Energy Code Revisions

Spring House, PA October 1, 2005 – Rohm and Haas Company, the Philadelphia-based specialty materials company, announces its “Coat It, You’re Covered!™” “cool roof” program. The company’s educational initiative is being launched in response to California’s stricter building energy efficiency standards, Title 24, becoming law today.

          The “Coat It, You’re Covered!” program is designed specifically to help professionals in California’s commercial building sector. It shows how and why acrylic roof coatings lower roof temperatures and energy loads on buildings, while at the same time, permit the use of the most frequently specified commercial roofing systems, including built-up roof (BUR), modified bitumen (mod-bit), EPDM and metal roofs.

          Rohm and Haas Company said they selected the name of their new elastomeric roof coating (ERC) educational program because it’s simple and effective, just like ERC technology’s ability to meet the Title 24 regulations. “Rohm and Haas products and solutions can help reduce energy consumption and achieve compliance with the new Title 24 regulations,” said Bernadette Corujo, market manager for Rohm and Haas. “In simple terms, we make it easy for builders and contractors with this approach, since they won’t have to replace their traditional roofing systems and materials to meet the Title 24 requirements. Architects and their roofing system consultants can specify for their customers seeking compliance, a more simple roofing solution by ‘just coating it’. This solution is particularly appealing given the favorable long-term exposure history which quality elastomeric roof coatings enjoy,” she said.

In addition, the program’s web site provides links and training modules to explain clearly how ERC products can assist in easy steps to Title 24 compliance.
